Pingalot now does ICMP!
by Stefan Krantz
Short update regarding my service Pingalot! here
The initial version of Pingalot performed measurements utilizing TCP Connect. This approach is effective for capturing the TCP times between regions in the Akamai Connected Cloud. However, it doesn’t necessarily provide an accurate depiction of the true “latency” numbers, especially when compared to the command-line tool “ping,” which utilizes ICMP to measure latency. Therefore, I have made updates to the tool to support both TCP Connect and ICMP methods, enhancing its versatility and accuracy in measuring network latency across different scenarios. This improvement ensures a more comprehensive and accurate assessment of network performance.
What is the best Akamai Connected Cloud region for me to use?
